You describe your team, your shifts, and your rules, and Covered builds the schedule. The engine enforces hard constraints on skills, availability, overlapping shifts, and work-hour limits, and adds a soft penalty for overtime, so every schedule it returns is valid and keeps overtime to a minimum.
Building a schedule by hand used to take 3 to 10+ hours a week. The constraint-based optimizer does it in under a second.
A Java and Spring Boot REST API manages employee availability, shift assignments, and scheduling constraints. It connects the engine to a React dashboard, where a schedule can be generated and reviewed in real time. The whole stack ships in Docker.
