CSULB ProfCheck

Picking classes at CSULB meant checking every instructor on Rate My Professors in a separate tab. ProfCheck puts each professor’s rating directly in the course search instead. It’s published on the Chrome Web Store and has passed 200 installs.

Most of the work went into making it fast and polite to the API it depends on. Tighter GraphQL queries and a TTL cache cut unnecessary requests by 50% and shrank response payloads by about 90%.

Real course data is messy, so the extension matches instructor names, falls back gracefully when a profile is missing, and lets students filter by rating. Several of those features came straight from feedback by the students using it.
