Cal Hacks 13.0, right after the results were announced.

Lobe started as a weekend build at Cal Hacks 13.0 and placed third in the Best Use of Convex track. I worked on the real-time collaboration backend, written in TypeScript on Convex. A single type-safe mutation pipeline syncs every user interaction and AI-agent command across clients with about 300 ms of latency.

Each session is protected by token-based access with role-based authorization, guarded invite links, and queries that never expose secrets. More than 160 automated tests cover those access rules.

To keep the shared 3D view responsive without flooding the database, I throttled camera updates to 5 writes per second and kept presence heartbeats separate from scene state. That cut redundant writes and stopped clients from re-rendering when nothing they could see had changed.
